I decided to use this snowy day to break in my new gelli plate!! I love this tool. It is a lot of fun to just experiment with colors and household items. I learned about this tool from the Creative Jumpstart 2014 and Julie Fei-Fan Balzer's video. You apply some paint, brayer it on the surface and make impressions using household items. For me this included an empty tape roll, bubble wrap and netting. I also used the inside of a cardboard box to make an impression. It is a tool for mono-printing and because it has "give" on the surface, it really allows for some fun effects.
After you have your design, you put down paper and burnish, then lift to reveal the work you have created. You can often get a second print, just as interesting as the first. So here are some of the final sheets I created. I also took a pic of the gelli plate after one of the impressions.
Of course I'm not done, once these pages dry, then I will further embellish with stencils, stamps and who knows what else.
Enjoy!!
